Definition
Process Analysis is a technique used to understand and systematically assess a business process by examining its inputs, outputs, activities, resources, and performance against metrics such as time, cost, quality, and value. By analyzing the as-is process, Business Analysts can identify bottlenecks, redundancies, waste, and gaps that inform the design of an improved to-be process or the requirements for a supporting technology solution.
Inputs
- Defined process scope with clear start and end points
- Process documentation, SOPs, or prior process models
- Performance data (cycle time, error rates, cost, volume)
- Stakeholder input from process performers and owners
Outputs
- An analyzed as-is process model with annotated inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and gaps

When to Use

When Not to Use
