Objective
Replace manual, file-based billing processes with an automated API-driven billing architecture that improves accuracy, reduces billing cycle time from weeks to hours, strengthens IAM controls, and delivers accurate customer invoices.
Billing operations rely on manual CSV exports, spreadsheet reconciliations, and multi-week human review cycles. Invoice preparation requires 2–3 weeks end-to-end. Billing amounts can be modified by unauthorized users with no audit trail.
An event-driven API pipeline connects Salesforce, the Consolidated Billing System, Oracle Financials, and the Tax Engine. Pre-billing validation catches errors before invoice generation. IAM enforces role-based access and segregation of duties.
Challenges
- Manual billing cycles require 2–3 weeks to complete
- Upstream Salesforce data quality errors propagate to invoices
- No pre-billing validation — errors reach customers
- Contract threshold reviews inconsistently enforced
- IAM gaps allow unauthorized billing modifications
- Invoice layout and tax calculation errors drive customer disputes
